News letter....
The present day saying of “we are what we eat” has as last inspired us into sitting up and taking notice of what we are actually consuming. This in turn forces the manufacturers to take a closer look at their ingredients, if consumers will no longer buy biscuits containing hydrogenated fat, they must change their recipe, removing it. |

In the past our palates have been fooled into thinking that food is bland without all the salt and sugar, and is more appealing when brightly coloured and flavoured. Its life can be extended using yet more additives. Using so many chemicals both in cultivation of food and manufacturing it is no wonder that many of today’s health problems are brought about by our diet. At last things have turned full circle, the public are reading food labels and demanding change. We want natural food! Thus manufacturers must change their ways.
The same thing has happened with our health. In years gone by we accepted the word of our doctors. Now we ask more questions about medication, sometimes preferring a more natural approach. Modern drugs can be life-savers but they often have side effects. More people than ever before are prepared to try ancient remedies.
Our homes are becoming dangerous places, with the chemicals in our cleaning and household products. Fair enough, they do a wonderful job of whitening our whites and killing germs dead. What about what they’re doing to us? There are the problems that we can see and feel, like the eczema, asthma, and respiratory problems. What about the ones we are not aware of until it’s too late! Do we really want to live a spotless, germ free existence to the detriment of our health? There are many natural ways to live in a clean environment without us suffering the consequences!
The majority of skincare and hair products and even baby creams and oils today contain some ingredients which are not good for us. All I can say is have a good look at the ingredients label before you buy. If the item does not display a label, ask the shop assistant to find out what it contains. Do you really want to put petroleum on yours or your baby’s delicate skin!
News letter
In the news letter I’d like to include some natural remedies and ideas for you to try. If you have anything you’d like to share, to be included in a future news letter, please let me know.
Lavender Essential oil is renowned for it’s calming qualities. I always leave potting the lavender products until the last job of the day, as I’ve learned from experience that once the top is removed from the lavender oil, I slow down and become relaxed. Not good when an order is needed in a hurry!
When my children were younger, they both had a pot of lavender moisturiser
and before bedtime would put a little on their hands and faces. They never had any problems sleeping. A couple of drops of lavender essential oil on a tissue next to your bed can help to relax the mind and help you fall asleep.
A bottle of lavender essential oil should be kept in the kitchen as it can be applied straight from the bottle onto a burn to prevent blistering.
A few drops of Lemon Essential oil in a smelly shoe works wonders in reducing odour.
Also a few drops of lemon essential oil on a tissue and placed in the vacuum bag can freshen up the house naturally.
When you can feel a cold sore about to rear it’s ugly head, apply a drop of geranium essential oil on a tissue to the area and if you are lucky it will not materialize.
It’s the time of the year that hay fever sufferers dread! It is said that if you consume honey from a local source, it will ease your symptoms as the local bees have collected local pollen.
Garlic is very good for you. It’s a traditional remedy for coughs, colds and respiratory catarrh. Taken regularly it can strengthen the immune system and lower both raised blood pressure and blood cholesterol. It can also prevent bites from midges as they obviously don’t like the taste of you when you’ve consumed garlic. Unfortunately eating garlic leaves you with “garlic breath.” To prevent this, chew a sprig of parsley to freshen your breath.
Before reaching for the headache tablets try this one. Stir half a teaspoonful of ground ginger in half a cup of cold water. Drink this, and hopefully your headache will have gone within half an hour.
Bye for now,
